Tailored Holiday » Kenya

To bring to life those romantic visions of Africa described by writers like Karen Blixen and Joy Adamson, Kenya is the place for you. A certain magic pervades the Kenyan air, engendering a truly special atmosphere throughout this land. Whether you fantasize about walking through the bush among giraffe and elephants or feeling the breeze whip through your hair as you sail towards an endless blue horizon - Kenya has it all.

From Nairobi, the largest city between Johannesburg and Cairo, it is less than two hours by car until you can find yourself gazing up the Great Rift Valley escarpment, uncovering the treasures of Hell’s Gate National Park and the protected areas around lakes Nakuru, Bagoria, and Baringo.

To the west lies the immense Lake Victoria with its romantic islands. Up near the center of the country, Mt. Kenya rises regally above Meru National Park and the Laikipia Plateau.

Further north, the joint ecosystem comprising Samburu, Buffalo Springs, and Shaba Reserves glows like an oasis in this increasingly desertous region. Kenya’s northernmost frontier is dominated by the enigmatic Lake Turkana.
Occupying the opposite side of the country are the famous Masai Mara National Reserve and Amboseli National Park. Towards the east lie the vast and wild Tsavo East and West National Parks.

Kenya’s eastern border is fringed by one of the most beautiful coastlines in the world. From the twisting mangrove channels of the north to the colorful underwater sanctuary of Kisite National Park in the south, the Kenyan coast has something to offer to everyone.

Please feel free to browse our regions highlights and photo galleries to select places that appeal to your travel preferences!

Occupying a dramatic position at the floor of the Great Rift Valley, Hell’s Gate National Park is one of the only national parks in East Africa where visitors are allowed to explore on foot or by bicycle. This rare opportunity affords an especially intimate view of the resident wildlife which includes zebra, antelope, warthog, buffalo, and ostrich. Tucked away in the southwestern corner of Kenya is one of the most amazing wilderness areas on the planet.

Continuous with the Serengeti ecosystem, the Masai Mara National Reserve accommodates a mind-boggling concentration of animal species in a classic savanna landscape. During July and August, the Masai Mara hosts millions of wildebeest on the northern segment of their annual migration - an event so immense that words simply fail to convey its magnificence.

At the foothills of Mt Kenya

THE CENTRAL HIGHLANDS

Watching over the surrounding lands like an attentive guardian, Mt. Kenya dominates the center of the country.

Its rugged snow-capped peaks rise to 5199m (17,058ft), making it the second-highest mountain on the African continent. While Mt. Kenya’s two highest peaks, Batian and Nelion, are only surmountable with technical climbing, Point Lenana makes for a challenging and immensely rewarding three- or four-day trek.

AMBOSELI

Dramatically situated at the foot of Mt. Kilimanjaro near the Tanzanian border, Amboseli National Reserve is without question the place to capture that definitive ‘safari moment’ with elephant grazing in the foreground of the massive peak.

In fact, most clear shots of Kilimanjaro come from Amboseli - even those that appear on postcards sold in Tanzania! The open grasslands make it easy to spot resident wildlife, including wildebeest, buffalo, antelope, zebra, Maasai giraffe, lions, cheetahs, hyenas, baboons and more.
