Tailored Holiday » Malawi
A small and unassuming nation nestled between Tanzania, Zambia, and Mozambique, Malawi is a warmly welcoming travel destination with much to offer travelers seeking an adventure off the beaten path. While Malawi does not feature the same ‘Big Five’ experience for which its neighbors are so acclaimed, it abounds with a variety of stunningly beautiful landscapes, all happily accessible for those who endeavor to explore them. Whether it be hiking along rocky escarpments, snorkeling through a colorful underwater Eden, or simply reveling in the peace of white-sand beaches, Malawi presents a unique and irresistible offer for an African holiday.
Situated in the northernmost regions of Malawi are two of the country’s most exciting game-viewing areas, Nyika National Park and Vwaza Marsh Game Reserve. Lake Malawi is a dramatic feature in this part of the country with its shores lining the steep walls of the Rift Valley escarpment.
Continuing south, the main road winds down through the beautiful Viphya Plateau. Amidst the hills that roll along Malawi’s western border lies Kasungu National Park. Situated between the southern end of Lake Malawi and the western border is the country’s capital, Lilongwe.
Southern Malawi comprises a variety of interesting sites, including the game-rich Liwonde National Park, the exhilarating Zomba Plateau, the impressive cliffs of Mt. Mulanje, and the secluded gem of Lengwe National Park.
Running parallel to the land and covering a majority of Malawi’s entire length is the dazzling and dynamic Lake Malawi.

Continent’s best kept secrets

NORTHERN MALAWI
The largest and oldest park in the country, Nyika National Park is characterized by its anomalous highland landscape, a curious chimera where you can easily spot the outline of a hyena or zebra silhouetted before an endless panorama of rolling, grassy hills.
The park is remote and relatively unfrequented, affording you a highly private experience in this magical place.
The warm hart of Africa

CENTRAL MALAWI
In contrast to what its name implies, the Viphya Plateau comprises a brilliantly scenic highland forest blanketed by jacaranda and pine trees, interrupted only by the occasional river gorge or rocky outcrop.
With a cool climate and tranquil atmosphere, the Viphya Mountains are an ideal getaway for those who simply want to chill out.

LIWONDE & LENGWE
To experience the best of Malawi’s game-viewing opportunities, Liwonde National Park is undoubtedly the place to go.
The great Shire River cuts through the western part of the park, attracting a cornucopia of animal and bird species to its plentiful banks. While a wide variety of ungulates and pachyderms are found wading around the flood plains by day, night drives reveal a different crowd including bushbabies, spotted genets, and side-striped jackals.
Hiking the hazy heights

ZOMBA PLATEAU & MULANJE
The beautiful Zomba Plateau is a paradise for outdoor wanderers. A network of walking and hiking trails traverses the area, winding through pine forests and along escarpment ridges, providing excellent viewpoints over the plains sprawling out below.
The footpaths also lead to a sprinkling of waterfalls and lakes which make excellent spots to pause and enjoy the wilderness.

LAKE MALAWI
Without a doubt, the jewel in Malawi’s prolific crown is Lake Malawi.
This paradisiacal freshwater lake teems with the highest number of tropical fish species of any lake on Earth. Lake Malawi’s extraordinary diversity ensures that it has something to offer everyone.
