Bi Kidude

We have a pleasure to introduce you Bi Kidude - an extraordinary artist, singer and drummer of Zanzibar. Her age is estimated at about 100 years, but advanced age does not bother her with great forcebanging on drums, sing with an amazing acquisition and from time to time, dancing on stage. Bi Kidude is the most popular performer of traditional songs taarab.
About the beginning of his career, told in a fun interview: "It started late, about 20 years ago, I was already an old woman. I performed at the hotel on Zanzibar, I saw the producer, who knows music and knows how to sell it. Perhaps she saw something in me which was not seen by others. She took a risk and offered me a recording. It was hard work. However, producer meeting was a blessing. "She also says that loves to travel, but never wanted to leave Zanzibar because there does not need to hurry as we do in Europe or States ..."

Cane Dance

Each year, in the Kingdom of Swazi - the smallest country of Africa - around August or September is the traditional festival of Umhlanga, otherwise known as "cane Dance"
The 8-day festival attracts young women, virgins and childless throughout the area. During the festival they present their undeniable charms and attributes before the Mother of the King and the King Swazilandu. The king during this festival chooses another wife. Today is 41 years old and has 21 wives ... The main objectives of the festival is the protection of virtue, thanks to the Mother of the King for her work and to promote solidarity among women. Nice festival, right?
