Tailored Holiday » Rwanda

Tucked away in the heart of the African continent, the tiny country of Rwanda has become a paragon of healing and recovery from the tumultuous events that brought it to international attention in the 1990s. In the past decade, Rwanda has committed itself to starting afresh. This purpose pervades the atmosphere of the entire country, manifest in the bright green carpet that blankets its thousand hills, the revitalized streets of Kigali, and especially in the disposition of the Rwandan people. Rwanda offers a serene and humble beauty unlike anything else found in East Africa, engendering an authentically memorable travel experience.

Most travel in Rwanda starts from Kigali, the small but pulsing capital city at the heart of the nation. To the northwest is the famous Parc National des Volcans, memorialized by Dian Fossey’s Gorillas in the Mist.

Coming down from the steep volcanic slopes, Lake Kivu occupies a stunning location along the western border with the DRC. Just south of the lake lies the newly promoted Nyungwe Forest National Park.

Please feel free to browse our regions highlights and photo galleries to select places that appeal to your travel preferences!

Though Kigali’s streets are still quiet in comparison to those of its East African neighbors, it is an up-and-coming town with a good spread of accommodation, restaurants, and attractions.

Many claim that this is the best place on earth to track the magnificent mountain gorilla. The gorillas’ sanctuary occupies a stunning property: seven rugged and sky-scraping volcanoes blanketed in dense greenery.

Sitting dream-like among the dramatic volcanic foothills of the Great Rift Valley, Lake Kivu is well worth a visit en route to or from the Virungas.

With a variety of water sports available and surprisingly inviting beaches, the vast lake provides a taste of the coast in this land-locked country.
